Rakesh Gopal

President

Rakesh Gopal is the President at Dakota Consulting Inc. Joining Dakota in 2012, Rakesh has brought extensive technical, communication, leadership and project management skills to support Dakota’s work at the Department of Homeland Security Immigration and Customs Enforcement (DHS-ICE), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Environment and Protection Agency.

Rakesh also served as Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Implementation Manager, helping to develop and document policies, procedures, training materials and institutionalization of the software development division at Dakota. His leadership enabled Dakota to achieve CMMI Maturity Level 2 for Software Development certification in 2014.

As Program Manager for the OASIS Small Business SB multiple award, Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract vehicle, Rakesh has been instrumental in capturing task orders worth millions of dollars from several agencies since 2015.

Rakesh has more than 19 years of management experience as well as 10 years of software engineering experience. Prior to joining Dakota, he worked for large companies, including IBM, CSC, and Hughes Electronics as well as smaller businesses. A Project Management Professional (PMP), Rakesh also is a certified SCRUM Master.

Rakesh graduated from The George Washington University, where earned his MBA. He also holds a master’s degree in computer science from Virginia Commonwealth University and undergraduate degree in electrical and electronics engineering from BITS in Pilani, India.

In his spare time, Rakesh enjoys reading books and traveling.
